A rigger is a round with an unreasonably long head, and it exists for one thing: an unbroken line longer than your hand is steady. The length acts as a reservoir, so the line does not thin out and die halfway, and it damps the tremor in your wrist rather than transmitting it.
Named for rigging on ships, which is what it was invented to paint. If you draw with a brush at all, this is the one that changes what is possible.

- Very soft and long. It feels floppy and wrong dry and comes into its own loaded — do not judge it out of the packet.
- Made
- Heads set and shaped in Bavaria, Germany, in a workshop that has made artists' brushes for four decades. Handles turned from ash in Arizona and assembled here.
Care
- Rinse in warm water while you work; wash with plain soap at the end of a session.
- Reshape the point while wet and let it dry flat or head-down.
- Solvent-safe, but wash it out afterwards rather than letting it dry loaded.
Cautions
- Not for standing in water or solvent, for the same reason as natural hair — the crimp swells and the head splays.
- Not for heavy body colour: the filament carries noticeably less than hog bristle and will run out mid-stroke.
- Not for heat. The filament is a polyester and it will deform against a hot surface or a radiator.
- Not a detail brush. The long head makes short controlled marks harder, not easier — the Keeling Round 4 is the tool for those.
