A stiff round for drawing into wet colour and for the marks that want to be visible as marks. Six millimetres at the ferrule, tapering to a blunt point that will not hold a fine line — if you want a fine line in a stiff brush you are asking the wrong tool, and the Keeling rigger is two entries down.
What this does that a soft round cannot is push. It moves colour already on the surface rather than only laying more down.

- Finish & variation
- Stiff, blunt-pointed rather than fine-pointed. The tip opens as it breaks in and will not close to a needle point at any stage — that is the nature of a bristle round.
- Made
- Heads set and shaped in Bavaria, Germany, in a workshop that has made artists' brushes for four decades. Handles turned from ash in Arizona and assembled here.
Care
- Rinse in warm water while you work; wash properly at the end of a session.
- Wash with a plain soap, working the lather right up into the ferrule.
- Reshape the head with your fingers while it is still wet.
- Dry flat or hanging head-down. Never standing on the head.
Cautions
- Not for standing in water or solvent. It swells the ferrule crimp, splays the head permanently, and it is the single most common way a good brush is ruined.
- Not for scrubbing a dried film off a surface — that is what a scraper is for.
- Expect the head to shed a few bristles through its first several washes. That is the loose stock working out, not the brush failing, and it stops.
