A jar with a coil around the rim that holds brushes head-down in the liquid without letting the head touch the bottom. Resting a brush on its head is the fastest way to destroy it, and a jar without a coil guarantees you will do it every time you set one down mid-thought.
The base is weighted and wider than the mouth, so it takes a knock from a sleeve without going over. A screw lid seals it between sessions.
Holds six brushes on the coil. Not a solvent-recovery vessel — see below.
The specification
Everything we know about this item, stated plainly. The same record is printed on the card in the box.
- Composition
- Powder-coated steel body with a weighted base, stainless suspension coil, gasketed screw lid.
- Dimensions
- 88 mm diameter at the base × 104 mm high; 380 ml capacity
- Weight
- 412 g empty
- Finish & variation
- Matte powder coat in a dark graphite grey. It will chip if dropped on a hard floor and the exposed steel underneath will then spot.
- Made
- Spun and coated in Sheffield, England. Coil formed and fitted in Arizona.
Care
- Empty and wipe out at the end of a working week.
- Do not leave liquid standing in it for months — the gasket perishes and the lid seizes.
Cautions
- Not sealed against solvent vapour over long periods. The gasket handles a working week, not indefinite storage, and it is not a container to leave full in a hot room.
- Not for putting brush heads on the bottom of. The coil exists precisely so that never happens.
- Not for a machine wash — the powder coat will not survive it.
