Twelve slots in graduated widths, so a rigger and an 18 mm flat each sit in a pocket that actually fits rather than sharing one that fits neither. A flap folds down over the heads before the roll is rolled, which is what stops a head bending against the tie.
Waxed cotton duck, 18 oz. It is water-resistant rather than waterproof, and it is chosen because it takes a hard life visibly — it creases and marks and goes on working, where a coated nylon looks new until it splits.
Cotton ties rather than a buckle or a zip. Nothing to break, and nothing metal to scratch a handle.

- 18 oz waxed cotton duck outer, unwaxed cotton drill lining, cotton webbing ties. Bar-tacked at every slot mouth.
- Dimensions
- Rolled 320 × 90 mm; flat 320 × 430 mm. Twelve slots, 12–34 mm wide, taking handles up to 310 mm.

- Finish & variation
- Matte waxed finish in a dark olive. It creases permanently at every fold, lightens along the crease lines, and darkens with handling. The wax will transfer onto a light surface in heat.
- Made
- Cloth woven and waxed in Lancashire, England. Cut and sewn in Arizona.
Care
- Brush off dry dirt. Sponge with cold water only.
- Re-wax with a proofing bar once a year if it is used outdoors.
- Air it out before rolling wet brushes away in it.
Cautions
- Not machine washable, and not dry-cleanable. Either one strips the wax out permanently and it cannot be put back to the original finish.
- Not waterproof. It sheds a shower; it does not survive being left out in one.
- Not for storing brushes still wet. Roll a wet brush away and you will find mildew in the lining.
- The wax will mark a light-coloured car seat, bag lining or worktop, particularly in heat.
