Uncradled, sanded on both faces, and cheap enough to work through in an afternoon. This is the panel for studies — the ones where the point is quantity and the willingness to throw the result away.
Both faces are finished, so a board you abandon is not wasted; turn it over.
Without a cradle it will take a slight curve with humidity. Over 152 × 203 mm that is inconsequential and it will sit flat under a clip.

- 6 mm void-free birch laminate, sanded to 180 grit on both faces, square-cut edges lightly eased. Unprimed and unsealed.

- Finish & variation
- Sanded smooth both sides, birch figure visible and differing board to board. Uncradled, so expect up to 1 mm of curve after a season in a dry room.
- Made
- Birch laminate cut, cradled and sanded in our own Arizona workshop. Cradles are solid ash, mitred and glued rather than stapled.
Care
- Store flat and separated, under light even weight.
- Seal both faces before working — sealing only one guarantees a curve.
Cautions
- Not flat without support at this thickness. It is a study board, not a panel to hang.
- Not supplied primed. The face is sanded and ready for a ground, and it needs one — worked directly, the wood will discolour what you put on it.
- Not free of grain figure. Birch figure differs panel to panel and will read through a thin ground unless you build it up.
