The same construction taken up to sixteen by twenty, on a deeper 38 mm cradle with a centre brace. The brace is not optional at this size — an unbraced cradle over about 400 mm will bow, slowly and then all at once.
Flatness tolerance loosens with area, and we state the real number rather than repeating the small panel's figure.

- 6 mm void-free birch laminate face, solid ash cradle 38 mm deep with a single centre brace, mitred and glued. Face sanded to 180 grit. Unprimed and unsealed.

- Finish & variation
- Sanded smooth with visible birch figure, which is more pronounced over this area. Flat to within 1.2 mm across the diagonal at delivery.
- Made
- Birch laminate cut, cradled and sanded in our own Arizona workshop. Cradles are solid ash, mitred and glued rather than stapled.
Care
- Store upright and separated, not face-to-face under weight.
- Seal both faces and all edges before working, or the panel will take up moisture unevenly.
- Keep out of a car in summer — heat cycling is what opens a glue line.
Cautions
- Not supplied primed. The face is sanded and ready for a ground, and it needs one — worked directly, the wood will discolour what you put on it.
- Not free of grain figure. Birch figure differs panel to panel and will read through a thin ground unless you build it up.
- Not guaranteed dead flat beyond the tolerance stated below. Wood moves with humidity and a cradle limits that, it does not abolish it.
